Announcing GitKraken’s New Dev Tools, Plans & Pricing
What you can expect starting Saturday, October 14th
We live to maximize the ability of developers and their teams to focus, create and collaborate, while minimizing distractions, context switching, and wasted time. With the launch of all-new products like the GitKraken CLI, GitKraken Browser Extension, GitKraken.dev (Q4 preview) and GitLens for JetBrains (coming 2024), we are closer than ever to realizing this mission. These new dev tools are purpose-built for developer collaboration and work together seamlessly to connect teammates who work in different development environments – and different locations.
In order to simplify the process of trying, using and buying these tightly integrated Git tools, we’re offering them all together as a single suite for one low price. No add-ons, dual subscriptions or complicated math. Starting Saturday, October 14th, your current GitKraken Desktop and/or GitLens plan will be updated to the corresponding new GitKraken Pro, Teams, or Enterprise plan. This will enable immediate access to our entire suite of powerful developer tools, including:
- GitKraken Desktop for Windows, Mac & Linux: the ultra-intuitive Git GUI that has helped devs visualize 1B+ commits
- GitKraken CLI: bringing Git collaboration to the command line (new)
- GitKraken Browser Extension for Chrome, Firefox & Edge: enabling seamless transitions from GitHub & GitLab to GitKraken Desktop or GitLens to save you time and minimize context switching (new)
- GitKraken.dev: enabling developer collaboration anywhere, anytime in the browser (Q4 preview)
- GitLens for VS Code: the wildly popular VS Code extension with 25M+ installs
- GitLens for JetBrains: bringing powerful Git visualization & collaboration features to IntelliJ (coming 2024)

- After Oct 14th: start using the new developer tools you now have access to.
If you have any questions, concerns or just want to discuss, we are here to help. In addition to setup or training resources for these new products, we will work closely with you so we can continue to grow and partner together for years to come.
When do I get access to these new products?
All paid customers and users in trial get access to all the products starting Saturday Oct 14, 2023.
When do the new plans take effect?
All plans will be updated sometime on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
Why did GitKraken decide to build these new tools, and package them together in a single suite?
Like almost everything we do, these new tools and plans were informed directly by customers requests and developer feedback. The market very clearly told us that developers work across different environments – from the command line to the desktop to the IDE – and they increasingly need real-time continuity across these environments.
How much will it cost to add new users to my existing subscription after October 14th?
Any new users added to a subscription after October 14th will be at the new prices listed in the columns above. We recommend you add users before then to lock in pricing until your renewal.
Can I buy only the GitKraken Desktop or GitLens on their own?
We are retiring the old plans and the only offerings starting Oct 14th will be GitKraken Pro, Teams and Enterprise. These developer tools were designed to work seamlessly, and be better together.
I have a 1 or 2 user Pro subscription and noticed that the new Pro plan has a special price that’s lower than what I paid, can I get a refund?
We don’t offer refunds in the middle of a subscription (just like we’d never raise your prices in the middle of a subscription). However, depending upon the time of your renewal, you may still get the special discounted rate.
How long will the special price continue for the first 2 users in the Pro plan?
We’re honestly not sure. We constantly evaluate our products, plans, pricing and the market in general, and attempt to make our products as affordable and accessible as we can.
Can I renew early, ahead of October 14th to lock in my current prices?
We do offer early renewal for customers on our Teams or Enterprise plans. You can reach out to our Customer Success team to inquire.
What does “self-hosted Git integration” mean?
GitKraken Desktop allows you to connect to several remote repos through integrations. These integrations allow you to connect with cloud hosted repos as well as repos hosted on your on-premise environment. On-prem Git hosting platforms such as GitHub Enterprise Server, GitLab Self Hosted, etc. are what we refer to as “self-hosted Git integrations”.
For GitKraken Pro, is the 1 self-hosted Git integration per profile or across all profiles in a single seat?
In GitKraken Desktop, each profile within a Pro account supports 1 self-hosted Git integration. For our other developer tools, like GitLens and GitKraken CLI, there’s a single limit of 1 self-hosted Git integration since they don’t have multiple profiles.
I have a GitKraken Desktop Individual Plan that has been migrated to the new GitKraken Pro Plan. How long can I retain the price I was paying for GitKraken Individual?
You will continue paying the same price as your current invoice for one more renewal, your next invoice will be at the same price that you are currently paying.
Who can I contact if I have any questions or concerns?
Email [email protected], we’re here for you.
